Built by lifters,
for lifters.
A garage, a
barbell, and a
bad attitude
about treadmills.
Iron & Grit started in 2017 in a converted garage with one power rack and a dehumidifier that never worked. Our founder, a former state-level powerlifter, was tired of gyms that sold memberships nobody used. So this one was built backwards: programming first, equipment second, ambience last.
Nine years on, we've moved twice, broken six squat racks, and kept the same rule — every member leaves having moved a number they couldn't move before.
How we got here.
One rack, one garage
Iron & Grit opens with four founding members and a single power rack.
First real floor
We move into a 2,400 sq.ft. unit and bring on our first two coaches.
Conditioning wing added
A dedicated conditioning floor opens to support group classes alongside the lifting platforms.
312 members, one standard
Now Coimbatore's largest strength-focused floor — still run on the same programming-first principle.
Three rules we
don't break.
Programming over guessing
Every member trains off a written plan. No wandering the floor wondering what to do next.
Coaches who watch, not scroll
Phones stay off the floor for coaches. Your bar path gets watched, every rep, every set.
Numbers don't lie
We log every lift. Progress is measured in kilos and minutes, never in how you feel that day.
Inside Iron & Grit.
"I didn't want to build a gym people felt good about leaving. I wanted to build one they couldn't wait to get back into."
